ADVENT: Second Sunday and Second Week - PEACE
Sunday December 10, 2023
Dear friend: how was your ADVENT celebration last week? Were you able to take a few moments every day to draw near to God and quiet your soul, to meditate and give Him thanks for His beloved Son sent to the world to save us from our sin and give us eternal life? I hope so. If not, it’s not too late – begin today and continue every day, because the days when you draw near to Jesus will be a great blessing for your life.
"Take time to be aware that in the very midst of our busy preparations for the celebration of Christ’s birth in ancient Bethlehem, Christ is reborn in the Bethlehems of our homes and daily lives. Take time, slow down, be still, be awake to the Divine Mystery that looks so common and so ordinary yet is wondrously present.” (Edward Hays)
This second week of ADVENT we light and celebrate the candle of PEACE. Jesus said in John 14:2: “PEACE I leave with you; my PEACE I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” And in John 16:33 He said: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have PEACE. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Dear friend: in this second week of ADVENT may you trust the victory of Jesus Christ in the midst of the afflictions that life brings to you, and may you have PEACE.
