As we begin our journey through this NEW YEAR 2024 living in God's daily NEW MERCIES, I invite you to wander with me in pictures through one of Cartagena, Colombia's most fascinating neighborhoods: Getsemaní. Here, a “palenquera” as street-art in the heart of Getsemaní.

NEW YEAR, NEW MERCIES: DAY 10

Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. ~Psalm 107:8-9

 

Joy: 
I wish I always carried it with me. 
I wished it always shaped the way I look at life. 
I wish it directed my desires. 
I wish it was the natural inclination of my heart. 
I wish remembering your boundless grace would silence my grumbling. 
I wish my worship of you, my trust of you, my rest in you would drive away all complaints. 

If my heart is ever going to be freed of grumbling and ruled by gratitude, I need your grace: grace to remember, grace to see, grace that produces a heart of humble joy. 

Thank You God, that I can always choose joy, whatever my circumstances might be - because I can always choose thankfulness. When gratitude and gladness do not come naturally to me, it is Your infinite grace which enables me to be thankful and joyous at all times.
