Island Reflections - 2

One of the most beautiful spots on the Island of San Andrés is the southern tip.

When you go around that last bend as you’re driving south on the western shore, when you turn eastward heading along the southern coast for a few minutes, before driving back north along the eastern shore - and you suddenly find yourself in the CALLE DE LAS PALMERAS: a gloriously stunning road lined with palm trees on both sides right beside the ocean… It is truly breathtaking!

It feels like a guard of honor, like a red carpet treatment - as the tall majestic palm trees swaying on both sides of the road seem to bow down and wave you through.

I imagine my entrance into heaven somewhat like this: fellow believers and trees, standing along the sidelines as I wearily come limping in - all clapping their hands for joy and congratulations upon my arrival in eternity.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses… let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith…

~Hebrews 12:1-2
